Remembering Dr. Jesse Parker
We are deeply saddened to share that Dr. Jesse Parker, Artistic Director of the Chesapeake Chorale and Chamber Singers, passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2024, one month shy of his 66th birthday. We were fortunate to have Dr. Parker direct the Chesapeake Chorale and Chamber Singers for 22 years. Together, the Chorale and Dr. Parker presented a wide range of repertoire, including music by Brahms, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Bernstein, Vivaldi, Bloch, and Poulenc, as well as by numerous contemporary Pop and Broadway composers, including Queen, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Stephen Sondheim, and Burt Bacharach. His love and passion for music, exceptional style of conducting, and keen sense of humor made him the ideal director. Dr. Parker was much loved and admired by the members of the Chorale, as well as those within his numerous other musical spheres. He will be sorely missed by all. We hope to honor his memory in every song we sing, knowing that Dr. Parker played an integral role in the musical excellence and caring community of the Chesapeake Chorale.
